Individual Psychotherapy
What to Expect
Individual therapy is about giving yourself time to focus on you and being able to process your thoughts and feelings in a judgement-free space. I'll work with you to help you identify your needs, which will shape the work we do together in the therapy room. We'll look at where these needs come from and how you can work towards meeting them yourself, or through healthy relationships. We'll look at the coping skills you already have and if they're still serving you in the way they did when you first learned them. We'll process feelings like sadness, love, rejection, anxiousness. We all carry around feelings. It's how we react to these feelings that makes a difference.
The first couple sessions are spent gathering history and getting to know you. It's important for me to have a broad view of the different parts of your life and experiences that have lead you to where you are today.
Showing up authentically in the room is an integral part of therapy. My style is direct, patient and compassionate. This might not be for everyone and that's ok! If at any point, you feel it isn't a good fit, I will help you find a therapist who is!
